How to choose a regime

The new regime wins for most people with few deductions — income up to ₹12 lakh is effectively tax-free. The old regime wins when home loan interest, HRA and 80C/80D together cross the break-even. If the result is close, talk to us before filing — regime choice has rules about switching that depend on your income type.
